Get Low was the first Signs of Wonders movie I've been able to see. All I knew about Get Low was that it had Bill Murray and Robert Duvall in it and Prof. Leeper spoke highly of it. After asking every girl on my floor if they wanted to join me in watching Get Low, to no prevail, I went to the MCA alone and unsure. I hate going places alone, but I'm glad I went to see Get Low.
What struck me the most out of the entire movie was the fact that "Bush" built "the most beautiful sanctuary". I love sanctuaries. When I visit a new church I always take time to look at all of the architecture in the sanctuary, especially in Catholic churches. A sanctuary, to me, is a romantic, intimate place. The sanctuary is the most beautiful place in most churches, physically and spiritually. In a time where Bush cut himself off from the world and forgiveness, he built the most beautiful sanctuary that Rev. Charlie Jackson had ever seen. I love that in the midst of Bush's troubles and sorrows, he built a sanctuary; a place of refuge, intimacy, and worship. Not just any sanctuary, but the most beautiful sanctuary.
This is what affected me the most from Get Low. You should go watch it if you haven't.
