Here's our final short film for editing class. Our group consisted of:
Nathan Corder
Josiah Wood
Lindsey Berggren
Robert Scheribel
Sam Doughty
Kelsey McCoy
From concept to render, it was a 4 day process. We had four weeks for the project, but things fell apart with our original story and plan and we had to get creative. Like Leeper says, limits can be a good thing... enjoy

Panthodile Inc.
I'm not sure what the inc. stands for, proablly stands for ink. But seriously, I am attempting to keep up a blog. A seperate blog, but not just any blog, a comic blog! Duh nuuuuh. Bet you didn't see that coming at all. (insert Abi snickering saying "that's what she said")
As I mentioned, I've always wanted to do my own blog comic. But this comic may or may not also include vlogs (video blogs). So multiple different ways to document my oh so adventurous life and findings.
The thing that bugs me about doing a blog comic is knowing that I'm just another jerk who thinks they're funny and interesting enough to talk about themselves and their lives constantly to entertain almost no one. But then I tell that thought to shut up 'cause I'm not doing it to be internet famous(mostly) I'm doing this for the kids.
Wait no I'm doing this to grow and stretch out as an artist.
So if you want to end the growing extinction of the majestik panthodile then go follow my blog which'll update on Fridays and have doodles and dialogue to go with it. Much like I've already shown in previous blogs. That comic with the furries is called In and Out the Box, (also the name of my youtube channel) At some point in the future I may actually have a graphic novel that's been dancing around my head for the past 5 years and put that up somewhere... at some point. Hopefully.
Anyways click here to view!!! I appreciate you love n' support. And if you don't have love I guess I'll have to deal with just support, and vice versa.
Long live the Panthodile!

Apple Butt
I have no idea what that is either but it was mentioned in one of my favorite movies Stick it. Unfortunatly this movie is not known by most people which I find quite sad cause it's hilarious. Pretty sure I could quote it as much as mean girls but I don't cause no one gets it :( So I wanna fix that with some movie clips if I can find some.
Huh Nope but I found the whole movie. Awwwesome so check that out after finals so that we can have inside jokes yay!
It's great, and hilarious and not lame like bring it on or any other cheer/ gymnastics movie seriously hard core awesomeness (note I was never in gymnastics)
Also bonus it has no cliche love story crap, its just a girl, a hard core badass that I love that works through life to get what she wants, freedom, in more then one sense.
The title's a play on words too if you watch to the end you'll get it
and guess who's in it? JEFF BRIDGES!!!

Bone
First of course is Scott Pilgrim. There's already been a blog about the move but the books are so awesome you can't watch the movie and fully enjoy it without reading those books. It was written by Brian Lee O'Malley from Ontario Canada. He had written another comic called Lost at Sea before Scott, but it was Scott that launched his career. I find it fascinating how the series was first inspired by a song By Plum Tree (A band that Scott wore in the movie and in the novel) The song was actually called Scott Pilgrim. Should listen to it.
Anyways the books are centered around Scott, a 23 year old slacker that plays bass in a band. He meets Ramona Flowers and falls for her immediately, but he comes to realize that he has to battle her 7 evil ex-boyfriends. The comic is hilarious and the illustrations are something unique and playful. After Scott Pilgrim became popular many comics came after that were also stylized similar like the webcomic Johnny Wander.

Scott Pilgrim is heavily influenced by video game art and style, as seen in the movie and cute references, like Scott dreaming that he's Link in the Zelda games and having things like extra lives and coins that explode from the defeated ex's.
The ending was a little confusing for me but the books together are defiantly something I highly recommend.
Second is my ultimate favorite graphic novel. Bone was written by Jeff Smith. It originally serialized in 55 irregularly released issues from 1991 to 2004. Smith's black-and-white drawings were inspired by animated cartoons and comic strips, a notable influence being Walt Kelly's Pogo. Accordingly, the story is singularly characterized by an effective combination of both light-hearted comedy and dark, epic fantasy. he series centers around the Bone cousins, white, bald cartoon caricatures, named Phoney Bone, Smiley Bone, and Fone Bone. Phoney Bone is often scheming his way into trouble and yet again his cousins are having to help him out of his mess, but this time he's got them all run out of their town Boneville. Out in the wilderness they are attacked by a swarm of locusts and separated and all end up in Barrelhaven in a Valley where they meet the people of the village and get tangled up in an ancient struggle.
I love Bone, the characters are fantastic, the illustration is so, I don't even know I love it. And I defiantly think you should read them. There's nine books all together. Just... read them.

Since you all enjoyed that
I'll just post another one I did this evening. It stars Danni! aka Danni Girl. My CMC on Hardy 1st. Amanda will appreciate this, I believe she was there during this vocal exchange.
This goes to show you, you gotta be careful what you say around people. It could end up on the internet.

But Do you Recall the most Famous Reindeer of all?
This time of year calls for a special, a tv special to be exact. A special tv special that includes familiar stop-motion faces.
I myself thoroughly enjoy these movies. There's som sort of charm to the jerky movements and old time dramatics. Not to mention the music! Who doesn't enjoy these films? Or dance around their kitchen singing to these songs like an embarrassment to the family.
(Who else thought his beard looked weird at this point in the movie?... or wondered why Santa's Irish)
Now I think these films are completely necessary for a persons childhood. Don't you? And it's a true wonder that we can watch these things multiple times in the span of one month.

Yaaaaay!
As Kermit would say.
I spent my Thanksgiving with my family in Dallas (not from Dallas it's a long story) We went to see the Muppets movie. It was a really long time ago the last time I saw Muppets anything. Sad story yes. My dad told me when I was real little I wanted to watch the Muppets Show all the time. I had good tv taste even then. I love the muppets and it translates to adults so well too I don't know how they don't still have that show. So I know some people find the muppets creepy and I think their weird ;) but The movie was great. Some of the humor came from taking cliches and make them really ridiculous and obvious so that you laugh because you're thinking, that's so true! example would be when they have to drive to Paris so the muppets decide it would be faster to travel by map. They crack me up. What I love them most for was taking a serious moment and making you laugh through it, also being able to translate humor across any age group without having stupid characters to make the kids laugh along with innuendos that only the adults would get. They need a show for the good of humanity, seriously. They're icons of an ideal childhood while still being fresh and funny with the great range of characters.
That is how to do children comedy.
Wacka Wacka :D

Can we talk about comics
Cause I'mma do that now. Web comics to be exact, which aren't usually the shining example of cartoon genius but there are some great jewles out there in the big bad world of the interenet. They range from action stories, to fantasy, and a whoooole lot of 14 year old girls trying their hand at manga with a badly done over sparkly story. What I enjoy are the blog styled webcomics, my favorite would be http://www.johnnywander.com/
Which is the life and story of two artists and their daily endevours. I love the style that sorta reminds me of the canadian comic Scott Pilgrim (yes it was a graphic novel before it was a movie, which would explain a lot about the movie... and the fact that it was Canadian)
There's a couple of adventure web comics I enjoy, one being http://derelictcomic.com/. The artist has a unique style and I just love his use of texture and backgrounds. The story's moving a bit slow for me but I like just looking at his wonderfully executed panels.
My favorite though is this adventure comic http://archipelagocomic.com/comic/. I love this one the most because it's a wonderfully creative story with many different creatures and the plot and details all come together to create this diverse culture. Her characters are wonderful and believable but also it's an evolving comic. What I mean is she started the story a few years ago with undeveloped artistic skills so that you can literally see her progressing in skill and story. I think that's my favorite thing about it. I've seen so many other web comics that start out with a different skill set then what they have later so they get stuck going back and revamping old pages. It's an endless tiring cycle that way.
But those are a few of my favorites. Maybe at some point I'll have to start my own blog comic. Seems like a good idea to me.
Here's examples of each
Johnny Wander (note there is no one named Johnny Wander)
Direlect Which is an apocalyptic sort of story, the guy has a lot of apocalyptic backgrounds that he does very well so he really sticks to his guns in this comic.
Archipelago, an older page but I really like it. The comic is mainly in grey scale except here and when "magic" is used.

I was looking at this for 30 min
Breaking down animation to just pencils and sketches is a mesmerizing thing. I found a PDF that has 30 frames of Glene Keene animating Arial. I just stare at each frame for like five minutes and watch the flow. It's seriously like magic I can't even wrap my head around it
Here's some other things by Keene,
Brilliant

Only for the company
I will say that in high school I did read those books. Yeah I thought they were entertaining but the cult following was way too much. Seriously
Anyways I wasn't gonna go to the premiere but every girl on my floor was going! How could I pass up their hilarious commentary during the film?
I say this about every movie: " Well it was better then the last ones," which is true the acting and all that does improve. Doesn't mean it's good but it's better. Some thought the movie was fantastic and I have to agree it was well done, though watching it made me fully realize how insanely skewed up this story is. Like seriously the giving birth to a demon baby part i was writhing in disgust and pain. Plus her drinking blood through a straw was just *shivers*
Say you're a parent and you want to ensure abstinence in your child? Show them the demon baby birth part of that movie and they'll never want a man to even look at them.
Props to the sound effects guys in charge of that i felt that pain oh gawed it was awful. Yes I defiantly went for the commentary, the movie was hilarious loved that. Never would I ever enjoy the movie on it's own though.
Now for some Harry Potter vs Twilight ownage (Because Harry Potter will always beat Twilight)
And that's my fangirl blog of the month

Boy with a Coin
Music video! Yeah so here's Iron & Wine's Boy with a Coin. I love the song like a lot, a friend of mine is actually gonna go see them in concert (I'm jealous) But I think the main reason I love this music video is the dancing. Flamenco dancing! I love it. Haha one of the top comments is " What? A music video that has actual women dancing and not sluts?? Pinch me now!" or something like that. I have to agree with that sarcastic statement though.
Real dancing and it's all normal and not extraordinary until the last dance where there's a fairytalish flare and I really like that

Despite popular belief I have seen snow before
Last week I was feeling homesickness pretty harsh. It's better now but I felt like reminiscing about my homeland and we have talked about being international by being local so I'll see how well that works.
Anyways if any of you know me (and not a lot do I'm not that vocal) you'd know that I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Let me get rid of a few misconceptions you midwesterners seem to have about New Mexico.
It. is. not. all. DESERT. Seriously like 50% of you guys seem to have this idea that once you pass Colorado it's desert, cactus, desert, desert, desert, desert, Las Vegas (which is in a desert), desert, California.
Wrong. I think you get that idea because you pass through there on highways, and highways never pass through any interesting landscape. (I encourage a route-66 road trip) But New Mexico has a vastly diverse landscape, fact, many movies have been shot in New Mexico and tv shows (breaking bad and that witness protection show i forget the name) But you know what they say a picture's worth a 1000 words so I'll give you a small NM photo album.
This is Ruidoso, my aunt has a house here. It's known that if you have a house here you are usually a rich person. (My aunt's a teacher she's not rich)
What is that? Snooow? Whaaat? The question I'm asked the most "Have you ever seen snow before"
Dude I live 30 minutes away from a Ski area. New Mexico is riddled with ski resorts, a lot of it is mountains.
Ok most people know about this place, where they tested the bombs and the sand is all white n stuff... what's it called? White Sands ooooh.
I've only been there once but i love that place it's so friggen cool, the lizards are white, the bugs are white. That plant there is our national plant called the Yucca. Indians used the thick spiky things as paint brushes but usually they just stab me as I walk past them.
This is the Bosque. It runs by the river and is rather swampy and beautiful, it runs dry sometimes but yeah.
Let me just put up this arguement, sunsets anywhere else are just whimpy compared to home.
Seriously, whimpy
Ok this is something that comes to mind when you think New Mexico, pueblos! They are simply the coolest thing. They're awesome tourist attractions and most houses are fasioned after them. It's annoying sometimes to be honest. These are the Toas Pueblos
Ahhh that's home. The shining amber jewle that shimmers in a deep black river that runs along the base of my scarlet mountain. The Mountain's named Sandia (If you know Spanish you can see why it's named that)
Technically I live right on the other side of that mountain, in the mountains. I live at 6000 ft and the top of the Sandia is at 8000 I believe.
Ok I'm nearly done (that's a lie) just a couple more things. Yes Albuquerque is a bit crime ridden (hello we're cousins with Mexico and it's obsession with drugs) and New Mexico education system is real sucky but I gotta say that it is culturally rich and there is so much in it if you know how to look.
One thing is we celebrate Dia de los Muertos, (Day of the Dead).
Over here we see some totally legit, traditional face paint for the occation. The one on the right is a good friend of mine and her family is very hispanic. (Lesson one before going to NM, never mix up Hispanics and Mexicans)
Here's some from the Dia de los Muertos parade.
And here is my favorite time of year, it's probably 2nd to Christmas. This is the international Balloon Fiesta that lasts a week every october. It is something you have to see before you die. I saw one hot-air balloon a couple weeks ago and it made me want to cry (with joy). The Balloon fiesta is just hundreds of hot air balloons from all over the world coming to ABQ and lifting off all at once. It's gorgeous.
This is Old Town ABQ. It's a gorgeous little place right along 66. For Christmas ABQ decorates most of the city in these little candles and sand in a bag. In the midwest you have some white person name for them.
Of course in ABQ we call them Luminarias and that's not even the proper name for them. Sante Fe calls them Farolitos which is more correct but w/e.
I love christmas here, and occationally we do have a white Christmas!
There is just one more thing I have to mention before I'm finished... Two Words
GREEN CHILE
My amigo Johnathan knows what I'm talking about. We roast this pepper from heaven every year right when school starts. The smell of roasting green chile is just heavenly. We put this shiz on everything and EAT IT. sooo goooood. I miss green chile pizza.... :(
Anyways there's a lot I could say about my hometown that I won't bore you with any longer. But everyone has a home they feel this way for right? I know many of you are at most a couple hours away from home, and you miss it and your friends and family I'm sure. I missed my family too even when I went to school at UNM (not UofM, it's University of New Mexico) and i was living 30 min away from my family. Course I got along with them sooo much better after living out of the house but anyways.
I live 23 hours away from home so you'll have to forgive me for raving about good ol' Nuevo Mexico.
Anyways, I defiantly have learned the importance of indulging in your local life. That's all I gotta say 'bout that.

You're not a real Bear!
This has nothing to do with what you think it means.
I was curious where this quote came from cause I had a friend who kept telling me I wasn't a real bear. I googled it and got something else instead though.
An old cartoon! Oh how I've missed you my dear Chuck Jones <3
This was actually based off a book written by a Looney Toons alumnus Frank Tashlin and later into a short cartoon by none othere then dear old Chuck. Back home I used to visit Sante Fe (should visit it's awesome) and it had a Chuck Jones art Gallery. I loved visiting that.
Anyways, I miss cartoons that actually had something to say sometimes. Looney Toons were often violent and funny in a cartoony mischievous way and yet I feel like they always had something to say.
This one obviously has a lot of undertones, morals, political things, and whatnot. I often rant about how insanely awful nowadays cartoons are compared to the 90's. Sure there are exceptions that I've enjoyed and others have said are still good but what happened to these oldies? I really feel like kid shows are getting dumber. Like we're all silly men who need a shave and wear fur coats. I know we talked about children stories a long while ago but I felt I should bring it up again.
Well on a more current topic I like the animation and the stylization in cartoons here.

So...

The one below (ew) was one of the first things I did on photoshop. Awful right? That one on the right. Oh so much better to look at. That was done earlier this summer.
yaaay growth. That's all I wanted to say really. I love seeing how far I've gone in different aspects of drawing. The key is doing and observing every single day. Course you all know that right? Well I hope you do. And I have a very long way to go. But I guess I'll just post other things I've done and I hope you enjoy. Whateves. <—(this is me acting nonchalant)

Crazy
I already tried to post this already and had a lot of rambles thrown into it but I'll cut down on it.
So my best friend back home (about 23 hours away :'( ) Sent me a link to this trailer and said we had to see it when I got back. We decided after she broke up with her bf this summer that I was her pseudo boyfriend so this would be a future date. I'm still not sure who opens the door in this relationship but anyways, I thought this was a chick flick at first which I don't usually enjoy thoroughly but I decided I would accept this movie.
I do have a taste for the indie scene and this comes straight out of Sundance with an indie hue to it. But I don't think it'll follow a lot of the hipster cliches. It's a love story yeah but not the typical boring crap I can call five minutes into the movie. The leads seem to have a great on screen chemistry and the story is tragic and got me emotionally invested in just the 2 minutes the trailer runs.
Quick synopsis: A British college student falls for an American student, only to be separated from him when she's banned from the U.S. after overstaying her visa.
Simple yet it looks to be very filled out. I'm just curious if the lead girl role falls into any stereotypical "girls that fall in love" character. Or if the guy falls into the "what a man should be but the expectations are not realistic" character. Not sure but I'll let you know.

Ladiesss
Women in animation, not the orginization but i mean in general is a lacking feature, as is with many things in this world. It looks as if men rule in most areas right? A lot of women blame men oppresion and my reaction to that is "pansy moron." Seriously, women live longer, and there are more women in the world so saying that we're oppressed is simply stupid. Although I do believe a women's most important role is to be a wife or mother (if marriage is where God leads her) I also believe that God can use women in a lot of areas just as much as men. Now I don't really think there should be an increase of women in construction or w/e cause men and women are different but equal. Sometimes people think equal means women should do men work and men should do women work but that just gets stressful and confusing but I'm getting off topic, I wanted to go on women roles in entertainment and the media.
It's rare to have many women in animation which is why seeing so many girls in it here is pretty exciting to me but if you watch tv try counting how many females take the lead role. You'll have some fingers left over. I found some research on this that looked at 40 different movies ranging from G to R and went from 1999 to 2006, and 1,034 television shows for kids, including 534 hours of programming between June 12 and August 18, 2005. The results were not entirely surprising, but they were still eye-opening. Male characters outnumbered female characters in all genres by as much as 2:1, not only in lead speaking roles, but even in crowd scenes.
Not only that but the girls and women portrayed were "hypersexualized" for the most part and fell into three categories:
The Daydreamer
The Derailed
And The Daredevils
All which seem to encounter some sort of romantic love of some kind. Seriously though are we girls that shallow? I know movies can't fully go into the full depths of an individual person but I would like to see something different from female roles in film and television.
Of course to be fair, there are plenty of male stereotypes in films of course that can get pretty annoying. (Like the fact that romantic comedies lie to all men everywhere, cause in real life, "no" does NOT mean "try harder and I'll see that you love me and I'll eventually fall for you")
But there are so many different people why are we so drawn to these specific characteristics?
So I've been looking at personality chacteristics of female roles, even more annoying is the physical ones. Though I feel like that's so very obvious that I don't have to dive too far into it.
Long rant short: Girls have unrealistic ideals for their bodies. Boobs with waists that small is only possible by surgery, and we have a very unrealistic idea of hair.
Real men have unrealistic hair too and chiseled bodies.
I think we need to try a little harder and get some better, relateable and unique characters out there, especially on the female side of things. We have a lot of inspiration to choose from if we weren't so lazy.

The tube of YOU
Youtube I mean we all know it. I myself am a bit of a youtuby i post vids and watch a lot of youtube. I never imagined that it would be what it is now but with the availability to create and post pretty high-quality video there is a lot of good things one can find on it. Youtube perovides a huge varity of things, just as much as telivison almost. It has news shows, (celebirty news too), gaming, mini-sodes, comedy (a lot of comedy) and even horror (hey check out blackbox tv) And lots and lots and lots of VLOGS. I think vlogs are getting as common as blogs. You type vlogs and prepare to hear about millions of kids boring days about how school sucks or they found a frog in their yard. I usually find the entertaining vlogs *cough* Toby Turner *cough*.
But seriously is youtube becoming a threat to tv ? It is more accessable, it has whatever you want with much less commercials then tv, and it allows for a community with the people that are posting it. See the difference between tv and youtube is that the producer of videos can almost directly interact with it's audience which is something tv never could do.
Sure it does allow for a lot more stupid trollish things but that's easy to ignore if your not a singled minded individual with the mentality of a 10 year old and a short temper. It's also a great place to catch up on the latest internet memes and has a tutorial for things from how to tie your shoes, to how to make a red velvet cake, to how to look better naked (don't ask)
But what does this availability to media mean? For a lot of people it means quantity is over-running quality in videos. And yes while there is an abundance in stupid cat videos I find it quite fun to dig through the site to find it's gems.
The major downside is there are a lot of things to entertain you like way too much. Getting homework done on time is a bit hard when you can watch things like wheezy waiter videos and Maru the box cat. But don't worry you'll have time for them later.
Double rainbow all the waaaayyyyy!
here's an outdated but top 20 youtube memes from youtubes beginning to 2009. Today I think the only things you'd add would be annoying orange, double rainbow, rebecca black, and maybe a few other things:

What
This post is short just a question if anyone feels they'd like to discuss it *shrug* whatever
Well my question is this:
What is a successful film maker/artist/animator ?
It's a question that's always bugged me thought I'd throw it out there
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
