Pan's Labyrinth (Part Two)

So earlier I mentioned Pan's Labyrinth, and I just wanted to add a few more things that I had not previously said.

This is not animation.

And neither is this.

In fact these two different characters are played by the same actor. I don't even want to imagine having to act in all of that make-up stuff. It probably took a long time to put it on and take it off.

Anyway, my point by this is that while we're on the topic of fairy tales I wanted to say that sometimes you don't have to use animation. Sometimes when movies involve monsters and other creatures you can actually make a character look very realistic by putting make-up and fake skin and things on them. (I'm sorry, I'm not into movie make-up stuff, so I don't know the technical terms.) So, if you ever plan on making a movie with strange characters perhaps finding someone who does very good movie make-up may turn out to be a great investment.

  1. This is a great example of using live action to draw us.into a dark fairy tale world. It's one of my favorites of the decade. Thanks for posting on it.
