Into the Woods being sexual

I know that a lot of "childhood stories" have other meanings, but the point is that I've never thought of Red Riding Hood other than the story everyone has heard; girl goes into woods to visit her grandmother and meets the wolf and the lesson of not talking to strangers. And now after discussing Into the Woods in class I decided to look up the story and discovered that the story has other interpretations, many being....sigh sexual. It's been interpretated as being seen a parable of sexual maturity. Or another one saying that the red cloak symbolizes the blood of menstruation, braving the "dark forest" of womanhood. And another one saying that the wolf
symbolizes a man, who could be a lover, seducer or sexual predator. Pretty much the story is an explanation into the entry of adulthood.
Sigh...this really lifts up the facade I had on this story and many others sadly a bit, I want to see it as only the story I grew up hearing, but now this opens my eyes up a bit and I guess I will never look at the story the same actually, oh well.
