Think of the two little girls that were in the short films we watched in class. In the first one, the girl stole money and bought a chocolate bar. Was anyone else thinking of Willy Wonka at that moment? Anyone? Well, turns out, this girl had a big heart and gave the chocolate to her Daddy for his birthday. If that doesn't make you go "Aw" I don't know what will.
In Colorforms, this adorable girl with paint all over her outsmarted her parents in the end. I was seriously hoping this was going to be a clip where the girl paints everything that was white, to her multi-colored designs! Oh well.
We learned that you can never quite figure out what kids will do next. It's the sad truth that I thought the two girls were spoiled and were going to do something absolutely terrible. Shame on me, I know but back to my original point.
One of the first movies/musicals I thought about when watching little girls plays with stones and paint was Annie. I hope everyone knows the story of little orphan Annie who gets the luck of the draw and is chosen to spend Christmas with a bald man who is richer than God. The psycho who runs the orphanage is determined to make Annie's life worse than her own situation, which isn't pretty. Annie is the smart one in the end as the adults underestimate her abilities.
The other story/musical that came to mind is Oliver! Although I have hate issues with this story, it's still a classic.
I'm not positive on Oliver's situation in the book, but I know he isn't well off. There are people out in the world who know this story a lot better than I do so I won't try and butcher it for you, just using it as an example (I'm pretty sure I fell asleep while watching the musical lol).
Little kids are often portrayed as the strong, wise and brave ones in the movies. Gotta love them :)
I'm really happy you used colors :) and I agree with you
