My Photography
Ever since we talked about it in class, I can't stop thinking about how C.S. Lewis began The Chronicles of Narnia with a single image of a faun under a lamppost. I just find it fascinating how single images can lead to ideas and stories and be brought to life. This idea of imagery creating new stories reminded me of some of my photography that I took in high school. I loved taking pictures of unique things and then editing them with cool effects or just making it look nice. I tend to take pictures of really simple subjects, not because I find it easier but rather I feel it gives a complete focus to a single object instead of many at once. Black and white photos are probably my favorite because you can see some great and sharp contrast of the subject. One of my favorite pictures I took is a black and white photo of the a steeple of a church in my hometown. When I started editing it, I decided I just wanted to mess around with some effects. I then made the colors negative so white was black and black was white. I just thought it looked really cool and really different. Also, the picture had an emphasis on the steeple and the cross on the top of it which kind of emphasizes my strong belief in God. God is a huge inspiration in my photography and I usually put some sort of reference of my religion in my work. I didn't realize how fun it was just to look at a picture and just creating a story from it until we talked about C.S. Lewis and his inspirational images. These are just a few of my pictures so I intend to post more later on in the semester. For now, you are welcome to look at these images and maybe create some fun ideas or stories out of them. Enjoy!

cool. it's actually half-believable that the steeple pic wasn't made negative.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful work!! The tennis shoes is most definitely my favorite. Having the capability to take a picture that will make a dirty sneaker look beautiful is a real skill!! You have a God given gift :)
