When it came to the video last week about the little girl who took money out of the tin can to buy a candy bar. I completely expected it to turn out differently. I'm glad that I was surprised though; I expected her to get caught by the cashier or by her father, but I didn't think that she would buy the candy to give to him as a birthday gift. I guess what threw me off was that she put rocks back into the can after she took the money out. I thought she was trying to cover her tracks, suggesting that she wasn't taking her own money. And later, when she wouldn't finish eating her eggs, I thought that it was out of guilt. Of course, I guess I could see that she may have had a change of heart, originally wanting to keep the chocolate for herself, but then deciding to give it to her father. But still, I love that such a simple story was made to be so captivating. After she met her father and they went back into the same store, it instantly raised the stakes. It was great! Definitely one of my favorites shown in class so far. There's nothing that they did in that film that is beyond our capacity to create here at HU. It just goes to show that you can still do a lot even with simple stories.
