Once Upon A Mattress review: by Amanda and Abi

Abi and I went to see the Saturday afternoon show of Once Upon A Mattress and came up with the idea of reviewing the show for a blog! Especially since a few of our very own classmates had roles in the musical.

Here's Abi's thoughts....

The King was my favorite part, though Sir Harry was up there too. And Kyle getting slapped. I also liked how the flowers on the background changed from roses to those one flowers that have lostsa petals, and are pink, that aren't roses.
Though sometimes I was just sitting there smiling, and then Amanda would look at me and start laughing :(
I liked how the costumes for the main characters changed sometimes. So it wasn't just the same costume over and over again. And I really liked the queen's first costume, the peacock-y one.

I would have to agree with Abi on most of the above. We were both huge fans of watching Sir Harry and Sir Studley either flashing that smile or getting slapped....sorry Kyle but, we both laughed. We can't forget about the Jester though! I can honestly say i've never heard the song he sang but i liked it! And the communication with the King was hilarious!
We figured the show would be more entertaining versus other shows since we knew a few in the cast, and we weren't disappointed! It's was very good!

I think the smiling and laughing started when the first scene started. The show was funnier than the movie, which is what i'm used too, and still makes us laugh when we think about it.
You guys did great! Wish we could see it again and we look forward to future musical now that we know you can deliver a great show!

Sincerely,
Amanda and Abi (aka, the girls who sit behind you)

  3. I saw the play too and liked it. I'll have to cast Grant and/or Kyle in something comedic. Maybe in a school project. I love comedy so I'll probably make comedies.
