500 Days of Summer

I am currently watching 500 Days of Summer. I’ve never
watched it before, and I hadn’t really heard much about it. I don’t know what I
was expecting but it wasn’t a musical number in the park. The narrator said in
the beginning that this wasn’t a love story, but that didn’t make much sense to
me. Now I kind of understand. It’s the absence of love, where there really
should be something. This movie is really depressing me, but it’s also shedding
light on when situations aren’t ideal, and that’s more realistic than anything.
We experience that more than awesome, fulfilling love, or at least that’s how,
I’m pretty sure, how everyone feels most of the time. It’s refreshing when a movie isn’t all
lollipops and sunshine. This movie is sweet but it hasn’t put up any big
illusions like most “romantic” movies. Yes even though this is not a love story
it’s still a romance. 500 Days of Summer is a love story, even if it’s about a
love that isn’t there. All love stories aren’t all happy sometimes they are
downers, most of the time they are depressing, and I’m talking about the real
ones, in the world where we are brought up to expect the Disney happy ending.
There is really no such thing as fate or things that are meant to be there are
only coincidences.
