The Fable of the Scorpion explains how character will always trump logic. A person doesn't do something because it's logical, they do it because it's their character. This fable was told in Mr. Arkadin. The Fable of the Scorpion is the plot of Mr. Arkadin. Instead of the frog, there's a young man in love with an evil man's, the scorpion, daughter. This fable is used in a lot of Orson Welles' plots, it could even be said to be the plot of Orson Welles' life. Orson Welles denied putting pieces of himself into his movies, like Kane's childhood in Citizen Kane, but yet, the Fable of the Scorpion is one piece of Orson Welles that is in all of his movies.
