The film was sad in the sense since it was about abuse/rape in a messed up relationship. I got the symbolizim in the women being the chicken/bird (human can control the chicken/bird), and how even if the relationship is messed up the women keeps going back again and again almost as if she is brainwashed and afraid at the same time.
