This weekend, I was super busy. Friday night, I ran around town with Spencer getting five 30-second shots of b-roll for our editing class. Then Saturday, from 8 a.m. to about 3 p.m., I worked (with some of you) on Sunshine's movie, "Doldrums". This Saturday was a lot more fun than last Saturday, mostly because I was just more familiar with what was going on.
I've done a lot of filming and editing in my life, but I've never been so in
volved in getting a "good shot" like I have been for the past two weeks or so. It brings about an entirely new appreciation for movies now. I look for the way things are lit now, and the way a scene is split up. It's very interesting and exciting. I'm ready to start making movies.
First, however, I need to get better at telling stories. I think next semester I am going to take my dad's creative writing class, in which we have to write a 35,000-word fiction novel by around the end of March. This sounds very difficult, but I can't imagine the feeling of having written a 35,000 word fantasy all on your own. I think learning how to write in a creative way will be a huge step towards bei

ng a good filmmaker.
