I had just finished viewing the Shakespeare Behind Bars
documentary film and the next day a thought came to me, “these people are a bit
like the poor, homeless people in the Fridge film”. What I mean is that in the
Shakespeare Behind Bars the men prisoners are rapists, murders, drug dealers,
thief’s , etc. yet as I kept watching the film and saw how they got ready for
the performance of The Tempess, and how they revealed their background stories,
my eyes opened a bit and saw how they weren’t so bad. Yes the crimes they committed
were horrible, but as they talked I realized that these people aren’t monsters,
they’re human and they made bad choices/mistakes in the past and all they
really want is to be forgiven and be accepted.
I also them as determined and really dedicated type of people, which
surprised me a bit. And so like in the Fridge the homeless alcoholics, just like the prisoners are the lowest of the
low in society and are looked at with disgust, hate or just ignored. But like
the homeless people, they were the only
ones willing to save the little boy from dying in the fridge box. So both the Shakespeare
Behind Bars prisoners and the homeless people from the Fridge, although the
lowest of the low in society, sometimes those are the ones that aren’t so bad
and actually surprise me by displaying better personalities than those accepted
in society.
