Last summer I got some friends together and made the biggest video/short film I've ever done before. It's based on the short story The Most Dangerous Game, although we had to make a few alterations. We actually came up with the idea while watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. I was the director, co-screenplay writer, DP, camera operator, and editor. We had a full script (granted it was strangely formated), it took around 4-6 weeks to film, and ended up being about 35 minutes. Seeing as how it was the first attempt at this kinda thing, it was rather rough and sorta slow in parts, but it was a fun experience anyway. And, being the poor high school student I was, the whole thing was filmed on a cheap Sony Handycam and there were no lights or external mic involved either. Just a video camera and a crappy tripod. And edited with PowerDirector on a slow PC, which crashed halfway through the editing process. There were many flaws to say the least. SO.....I have been super pumped to finally be using Macs, Final Cut Pro, lights, mics, and more professional cameras.
Anyhoo, here is a trailer I made for it:
....and the actual thing, split into three parts, if you feel like you can sit through the whole thing. lol (parts 2 and 3 in the video description)
Hah! I read this in fifth grade and it changed my life. Thanks for sharing....very cool!
