Why should you watch these shows?
Well, first of all, I'd like to say that I love television. I really like movies, but I love television. I haven't run into to many people in the film department who are interested in television and comedy. Everyone else wants to do serious films and be super artsy and avant gar de and blah blah blah and that's cool, and I'd like to do a little of that myself, but, for the most part, I want to do television comedy and I want to do it intelligently.
That's why I love NBC comedy Thursdays. Except Whitney, which is a steaming pile of crap. But Community, the Office, and Parks and Recreation are incredibly funny and smart shows. Up All Night has serious potential. New Girl is funny and cute and I really enjoy it but I don't expect any boys to watch it because it has "girl" in the title, even though there has been no discussion of make-up or how us women-folk have a ticking biological clock and we need to have lots of babies. Happy Endings is really underrated, but I've enjoyed every single episode. Chuck is fantastic. I can't wait for it to start (October 28th.) Plus, Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski are both really attractive, so there's something for everyone to stare at. I swear, attractive Jewish men will be the death of me. The Playboy Club had potential. What happened though, is that the Parents Television Council decided it was inappropriate. The sad thing is that it had minimal sexual content and really was not vulgar or anything, but the people who protested it obviously hadn't watched it. They just decided. Plus, no one would protest to Amber Heard in a bunny suit if they saw like a minute of it. Two and a Half Men displays the kind of disregard for women that the PTC assumes The Playboy Club has in this article, but it's still on the air and extremely popular. I don't like Playboy. I don't like the magazine and Hugh Hefner grosses me out, but the television show was not about the magazine or centerfolds or soft-core porn. They probably should have aired it on cable instead of a network. Whitney is far more offensive and sexual and, since we're talking about censorship, that is not why I want it to die. It isn't funny. It's stale and annoying and it threatens to kick one of the smart comedies off and then I will cry.
I encourage you to watch these shows (not Whitney), and watch them when they air so they can get good ratings and stay on air.
This has been a post.
Actually, and I hate to play the role of stickler here and ruin your Jewish guy attraction fantasies, Zachary Levi isn't Jewish. Levi isn't his real last name.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, he's a pretty ardent Christian. He has an interesting way of life. You should look into it, as I'm sure you'd find that pretty attractive as well. ;)
