The Sand Castle is one of the films that got me interested
in different kinds of animation. I had no Idea coming here that there were so
many things to do with animation. Though thinking back on it I should have just
known that animation isn’t just what you see in the mainstream like clay,
traditional 2D (you know like Disney), or 3D. It’s possible to animate just
about anything if you have the motivation to do so. The videos I saw in this
class during the animation portion got me really excited about what I could do
here. The Sand Castle was amazing. I’ve never made a real sand castle, I’ve
played in the sand but I don’t think that counts, I mean like a legit sand
castle or sand people for that matter. The first sand man was a god character
making all the creatures after him. I felt he was making them so he wouldn’t have
to be alone. He worked together with his creations to create a castle. That’s how
I kind of picture us down here trying to work with God, except for the part him
actually being down here with us as a giant man made of sand. We are trying to
get along well with god and make the best of what we have down here even if it
is all just sand compared to what we’ll have when we get to heaven, and we have
to find our way amongst the snakes that cause us trouble. Although they
sometimes help us along the way we have to be wary of them, be careful not to
let them corrupt you, but help them see the greater purpose, so that one day
when your sand castle gets blown away you have a gaint man made of sand to help
pick you back up again.
