Politics and Pokemon

It's hard to deny that popular media has become integrated into all parts of Western society. When celebrities are as well known as politicians (or are often one in the same), it shouldn't be much of a surprise when aspects of one are acknowledged in the other. No doubt that it can be mildly hilarious to point out the social faux pas that people make when trying to do this. One of the latest of these recently occurred with the presidential candidate, Herman Cain, while announcing his suspension of his presidential bid. I'm going to be siding with Jon Stewart on this one. Herman Cain making his point by quoting the music from the closing credits of the Pokemon movie is, to me, kind of. It's not that I have anything against Pokemon, but there has to be better things from which inspiration can be drawn. He would have been better off addressing millions of people on national television with words of wisdom from Tex Avery! At least his cartoons are examples of classic American animation. But hey, as long as you're going to go out, it might as well be with a bang. Herman Cain used self-destruct. It's super effective!
