1948 Political Cartoon

When watching this cartoon, the first thing that came to my mind when seeing "Ism" on the bottle that the salesperson was trying to sell, was communism. As I continued watching, I noticed that most of the details within fine print on the contract for "Ism" coincided with details of communism. For example, the promise that the government will take care of you (in a way that it sees fit) and signing your freedom over, and your children's freedom over, and your children's children's freedom over. That just screams out COMMUNISM!!

I find it really interesting that a cartoon made such a long time ago can tough base with struggles that continue to exist today. Maybe not yet in this country, but definitely in other parts of the world.

Who can tell which direction this country is headed in, whether it be for better or worse. This cartoon reminded me of how lucky we are to be free and that instead of complaining of how horrible our lives are in this current state, that we should instead look back and see how we've progressed and be proud, strong, and continue to realize and be thankful that we still are free. :)
