14.) The Village - The Gravel Road by James Newton Howard




This film is pretty notorious for having very strong advocates, but also extreme critics. Personally I love it, I think it's a beautiful blend of thrills and drama. The plot twist was, I thought, really good. Completely took me by surprised the first time. Film aside I think this track is absolutely brilliant. The trembling violins elicit perfectly the uncertainty and blindness (in this case, literally) of our heroine as she stumbles forward on "the gravel road." Some truly inspired work here by James Newton Howard, who also happens to be one of my favorite composers. Yes, his work will appear on this list more than once. ;)
